Don Whiteside: Realtor of the Year

Don Whiteside, a devoted Emerald Isle Realty Sales Team member, has been named the 2022 REALTOR® of the Year by the Carteret County Association of REALTORS®. The award recognizes real estate professionals who have significantly contributed to their profession and communities. Don's remarkable achievement in the industry and commitment to his clients make him an excellent choice for the honor.

Don has been licensed in North Carolina since 1995 and with Emerald Isle Realty for 27 years. During his career, he has invested in local real estate and earned various designations such as Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI), Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource (SFR), and a member of the Worldwide Recreation and Resort Council (RRS).

Don lives by the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, specifically the “Golden Rule,” which states that he does unto others as he would have them do unto him. He is always willing to help other agents or staff within the office and is a genuine team player. He is focused on building and nurturing relationships with his clients, agents, and business partners. Don's exceptional and personal customer service to his clients and professionalism to his colleagues is admirable. His colleagues in the association would agree that Don practices the advancement of the principles of good real estate practice among other brokers and the public.

Don's impressive sales record is another testament to his dedication to the profession. He sold over $21 million in 2022, making him an Individual in the Top 5 by volume for production award. He has been the Emerald Isle Realty Top Producer for seven years, and his repeat business from satisfied clients speaks volumes. Don also received numerous production awards from the local association, including the CCAR 2016 Silver Production Award, CCAR 2017 Platinum Production Award, CCAR 2018 Gold Production Award, CCAR 2018 Professional Service Award, and CCAR 2019 Top 5 Individual Production Award. In 2021, his sales production topped $40 million.

Despite his success, Don is a simple man with a big heart and a fun sense of humor. He genuinely cares about people and always focuses on doing the right thing. Many of his clients turn into lifelong friends, and his approach to real estate has earned him the Emerald Isle Realty Jim Batten Spirit Award.

Don's activity in local, state, and national associations is impressive. He attends local, state, and national meetings and has served on various boards and committees for the Carteret County Association of REALTORS®.
